Lift service and maintenance for homes

Home Lift Maintenance Specialists

At Melbourne Elevators, we understand that your home lift is more than just a convenience - it’s about safety, independence, and peace of mind. Whether you rely on your lift for accessibility, ease of movement, or simply to future-proof your home, regular professional maintenance is key to keeping it in optimal condition.

Lifts in individual homes are now relatively common as people prepare for their mature years. Home lifts are similar to commercial lifts in that they require regular maintenance for safe and reliable operation.

Routine maintenance ensures that your lift ride quality and reliability is as good as possible. Just like a car, servicing a home lift is essential to its longevity. If lifts are not serviced, parts will wear out before they should and expensive repairs may be required.

Home lift maintenance ensures safe operation

Annual lift safety checks

Passenger safety is the main reason lifts are maintained and why they should have an annual safety check. Annual safety checks are in addition to routine maintenance but should form a part of any maintenance agreement. Annual safety checks cover items such as: the safety gear to prevent the lift falling, checking hydraulic rupture valves, slack rope switches and other safety features that work to prevent a lift falling and injuring passengers.

The same principles apply to home lift maintenance as to commercial high rise buildings. The safety of the public is the primary focus. To ensure safety, protocols and systems have been developed over the last 80+ years. If routine maintenance or the annual safety check is not performed, passengers are potentially placed at risk.

At Melbourne Elevators we take our responsibilities seriously. We have adequate office staff to ensure prompt response times to all customer enquiries and concerns. Our skilled technicians are well trained and carefully selected. 24/7 emergency support is available, just in case you find yourself trapped in your lift at 3am on a Sunday morning!

Free lift assessment

Home lifts, generally, require fewer service visits than commercial lifts and so Melbourne Elevators offers a “Standard Residential Maintenance Agreement” (SRMA).

Some customers decide to just contact us when they need a service or repair so we also offer a “Do and Charge” (D and C) agreement.

To start the process of deciding what type of agreement is most suitable, Melbourne Elevators offers a free lift assessment visit by a senior lift technician. At the visit, the customer will learn about their lift so they can make informed decisions regarding its maintenance. You will receive a report on your lift and an offer for a suitable maintenance agreement.

This process ensures we have the knowledge to support the product and the customer receives the correct level of lift maintenance.
